Independence Day

It was on this day 231 years ago that a courageous group of men made it know that they would no longer tolerate the tyranny propagated by the king of England. These were men who desired to be free from unjust rule. As we celebrate the birthday of our beloved United States of America, let us remember that our forefathers sacrificed their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor for truth and principal. These are men who were willing to sacrifice everything to give the next generation a nation where they could live in freedom. For those men, the signing of the Declaration of Independence became intensely personal as they realized the ravages of war on their families and their homes and property. May God help us to have men with character and integrity such as these–men who are determined to stand for truth without compromise and fear of consequence. Let us be grateful for the freedom God has given us and let us continue to pray that our nation will turn back to the Lord Whom she has forgotten.
