OK, so humor me -- I am one prejudiced daddy! But, come to think of it, what dad is not a little prejudiced toward his own kid? The longer I am a father, the more the Lord tenderly reminds me of His love for me. When I get discouraged or begin to look at the waves of life's storms, He reminds me that He wants what is best for me more than I want it for myself. As I provide for my child and for my family, I am reminded of how God longs for me have a close relationship with Him and to seek Him for my physical needs as well as the spiritual. The Lord has proven Himself strong in the life of our family these past few months. Many times over, the Lord has provided in ways beyond that which I could imagine. He truly is good! I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for tenderly teaching me to trust Him and to take my burdens and leave them at His feet.
A few days ago, Grandma Lael was in the kitchen making cookies. Abbie "happened" to wander into the kitchen to see what Grandma and Mommy were up to (as if she could not tell by the smell!). As is our custom, Grandma Lael asked her to say "please". Jocelyn and I have been teaching her to use the sign language for the word "please" instead of whining for something. Often, we will find her standing somewhere near something she wants vigorously rubbing her hand across her tummy waiting for us to notice and to give her what she wants. It is much better than the whine!
Instead of just giving Grandma Lael the signal for "please", she began to wiggle her feet and to "dance". Now, we have the Cookie Dance! Of course, she got more than one cookie that night!!!
